The Olowa of Igbara-Oke kingdom, Oba (Dr.) Francis Adefarakanmi Agbede, Ilufemiloye, (Ogidi III), has again reiterated his commitment towards advancing the course for the development of Igbara-Oke and her people. The monarch made the statement in his message during the Igbara-Oke Day 2018 celebration.
Igbara-Oke Day celebration is a biennial event organized by sons and daughters of Igbara-Oke under the umbrella body of Igbara-Oke Development Council, IDC, towards raising of fund for the development of the town. This year’s progrmmme was centered on raising N500Million for the completion of the Educational Infrastructure Complex being construted by the community in Igbara-Oke.
Oba Agbede who could not hold anything back express how grateful he was towards the supports the entire town has given him since he ascended the throne of his forefathers. He expressed his satisfaction at what he saw and commended the efforts of Igbara Development Council, IDC, and appreciated the residents and everyone who have participated in the donations for the completion of the proposed higher institute of learning in his domain.
He therefore called on sons and daughters of Igbara-Oke in the Diaspora to always remember home with the ultimate goal of rebuilding and repositioning Igbara-Oke.
In his welcome address, the Chairman of Igbara-Oke Development Council, IDC, Mr. Siji Ijogun said the sole objective of IDC is to foster unity among all indigenes of Igbara-Oke both at home and in Diasporas. He said, the Organisation has also helped facilitates different developmental projects for the development of the town. He attributed these projects to the peaceful atmosphere, love and unity that radiates among Igbara-Oke indigenes both at home and abroad.
Mr. Ijogun said the organization has also taken steps on the protection of these infrastructures and the territorial integrity of the town. He also said the organisation will continue to focus on constructive engagement of government at local, state and federal levels.
While expressing his appreciation to His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr. Francis Adefarakanmi Agbede, the people of the town and the Executive Committee of IDC, for the support given his leadership at attaining these feats, he said the Educational Infrastructure Complex is capable of handling multiple educational programmes simultaneously.
Also, in his message, the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, who was represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Wahab Adegbenro, said the state goverment is ready to partner with Igbara-Oke in the areas of tourisms and infrastructural developments.
Governor Akeredolu who expressed his happiness at what the sons and daughters of Igbara-Oke has done in order to help develop human and capacity said his administration will not renege in his continuous efforts towards the delivery of dividends of democracy to good people of Ondo State. He also promised to hasten the works on the roads construction and rice mill factory sited in Igbara-Oke.
